There are actually five different courts that fall under the jurisdiction of the Macon County Circuit Court Clerk.

John D. Wootten, Jr.

Circuit Civil
This court handles cases such as divorce and workers compensation. The judges for this court are the Honorable Clara Byrd and the Honorable John D. Wootten, Jr. Judge Byrd normally works out of Wilson County, but travels to Macon County for court. Judge Wootten is a native of Macon County and serves Jackson, Macon, Smith, Trousdale and Wilson counties which comprise the 15th Judicial District of Tennessee.

Circuit Criminal
This court handles cases such as murder and armed robbery. The judge for this court the Honorable John D. Wootten, Jr.
