Overall Goals

The overall goal of the Macon County Adult Education Program is to provide the necessary services that allow all adults 18 and older to acquire or improve their basic skills, and to have the opportunity to succeed as parents, workers, and productive citizens of our community.

All services are provided by certified teachers and volunteer tutors who have the knowledge necessary to identify the needs of the adult learner.

Classes are scheduled year-round with both day and evening classes available.

Morning Classes
Monday - Thursday
8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Evening Classes
Monday and Thursday
4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Services
(For Macon County Residents Only)

Basic GED preparation classes.  Volunteer State Community College comes in three times per year (February, May and November) to provide official GED testing.

Remedial college courses: English and math.

Literacy classes.

English As a Second Language (ESL) classes

Basic reading, writing, math and workplace skills.

Basic computer classes for Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.  You must have a high school diploma or GED to take this course.  The cost is $35.00 for the six week class.  The classes meet once per week for 1.5 hours.

Parenting Classes.  Taught through the Core System.
